UCI CX World Cup Overijse

Near Brussels, the last Cyclocross World Cup of the 2020/21 season took place in Overijse, Belgium. I didn’t let myself demotivate neither in training nor in the preparations that I unfortunately didn’t qualify for the World Championships next weekend. I just wanted to give my best!

Now to my race. Although the track suited me very well, it just didn’t want to work today. After being slowed down by a mass crash at the start, I never found my rhythm on the extremely demanding course. The numerous spectacular crashes I had on the slippery downhills also didn’t helped me find the rhythm I mentioned above.

Somehow I wasn’t really in the race and in the end I even had to consider myself lucky that I could finish the race in 45th place with some minor scratches and bruises.

As a souvenir of my last World Cup race I take some scratches and bruises with me.

It can't work everything always perfectly, so I have to learn from such races as an athlete.

I didn’t really want to end my cyclocross season with such a race, but the many other great results let me forget this race quickly. Thanks especially to the support staff of the Swiss Cycling Team, who once again gave everything for us athletes today.

Now I will take it easy in training for a week and after that I will already start my preparations for the mountainbike season. Basically, I’m already very satisfied with my form, but I still have some points in my mind, which I would like to improve in the upcoming weeks.
