Proffix Swiss Bike Cup Hochdorf

What an end of my mountainbike season this year. I was able to achieve the 4th place at the final race of the Proffix Swiss Bike Cup in Hochdorf.

Like last year the final race was again an XCC (Short Race). After my good performances in the past cyclocross races, I was used to the intensity and was ready to give everything for 20 minutes.

The start from the second row was great and I immediately took the third position, at the same time I attacked at the climb and was able to pull away with two other riders.

I felt extremely strong and was able to keep up with them. In the third of the five laps other riders caught up with us again and the position battles started all over again. There I made a tactical mistake and was only fifth in the narrow single trail.

In this part two riders were able to break away and unfortunately I couldn’t react from my fifth position. On the climb I tried to catch up again, but unfortunately I couldn’t.

So I went on the last lap with the new U23 European Champion Joel Roth. We fought an exciting duel for third place. In the end this fight went in Joel’s favor and I had to settle for 4th place in the sprint. His racing experience and tactical skills are just unbelievable and I already had hard fights against him in the U23 category. Unfortunately it didn’t work out this time either.

Among the first five riders three riders were on the Thömus Lightrider. This bike is simply unbelievable!

Fortunately, I didn't ask too many questions after my messed up start of the season in Leukerbad and always believed in myself.

I am overwhelmed to end my mountain bike season with such a great result. For me these last races were an enormous satisfaction, because after the messed up start of the season in June in Leukerbad I was already a bit helpless, because I trained extremely hard and serious during the Corona lockdown and my performances didn’t meet my expectations at all. Fortunately, I didn’t question too much back then and always believed in myself.

Thanks to people for the great support this season and for the confidence in my project JR Racing.

Now the season is not over yet, I will be racing two more cyclocross races in the next two weeks, but it’s not yet clear which ones. After that I will go into the training break.
