Training Race Oberried

Finally the time has come and we were allowed to take part in the first race in Switzerland after the long race-free time. Together with Thömus, Swiss Cycling organized a test race for all Swiss athletes at the Swiss Bike Park.

Since there are not many photos of this first race, I took the opportunity and created the new format #JRRacingDiary. With this format I would like to take you with me to the race track and give you an insight into racing with a short video.

Now to my race: The nervousness wasn’t particularly high, because mainly the happiness overweighted. The start with number seven was very good, but I made a tactical mistake in the second lap, which costed me the connection to the leading group.

Unfortunately I overdid it a bit while trying to close the gap. The necessary race hardness was still missing, so it took me a relatively long time to recover from this effort. I had no other choice than to ride alone for the rest of the race and try to slowly close the gap to the riders in front.

I was able to keep my position and finished the race in eighth place. I am very happy with this start and the feeling on the new bike was amazing.

It was a great feeling to finally stand at the starting line again and compete with other riders.

I’m already looking forward to the first international race, which will take place in Leukerbad in two weeks. Unfortunately there will be no spectators allowed there either. But there will be a live stream and I will make a #JRRacingDiary again.

About feedbacks or suggestions for improvement I would be very happy.
